Betty has some bitter butter... : A Roald Dahl tribute

There was a girl named Betty
who thought that she was pretty.
One day she went to the grocery shop
and bought some butter for her toast top.

While returning home,
all alone;
she dropped the butter
into the gutter.

Now we know that Betty
was a little bit nutty.
So she took home the butter
that had fallen into the gutter.
The butter had sogged much wetter
and had now turned bitter.
But Betty could not figure out how,
she assumed it must have been a bitter cow.

She had some thoughts of her own,
the whole wide world had never known.

She decided to go to the grocers' shop
this time she went a bus atop.
No fear of dropping it into gutter,
Betty bought some more butter.

She added it to the mass from the gutter
and so they claim she made the bitter butter better.

She never studied cookery;
nor did she get a PhD.
Of course she proposed a new solution
to the bitter butter problem based on density and dilution.
Thus does the legend of Betty go
the foolish girl who still ate the gutter butter though.
